The CW network announced a new show, Farmer Wants a Wife, to air Wednesday, April 30, 2008 @ 9/8c.  10 city girls try to win the affection of a farmer by doing farm tasks, cooking and playing Bingo.  I came across this picture on the internet with an article about the show.  Doesn’t that girl look familiar?  Trust me you don’t want to miss this show!!  Be sure to watch Wednesdays 9/8c on the CW.

In the last newsletter I forgot to mention Greg Hatley.  He also assisted unloading trucks the day we may have set a record of most wood purchased.  Greg has worked for Ward Timber for 5 years. He is responsible for transporting logs from the wood yard to the sawmill.  He also assist the other loader operators unloading log trucks at the Linden woodyard.  Thanks for your hard work!  —LP  (picture on file from last year’s Lumberjack Festival)

Last month I sat in to observe an OSHA certified class taught by our Safety Director, Linda Price.  During the class I learned many valuable safety tips.  One safety lesson that stuck with me was about fire extinguisher safety.  All of our equipment has a fire extinguisher on board.  With the rough line of work that is done with our equipment the fire extinguishers get shaken up quite a bit in a normal day.  During which the chemicals inside the fire extinguisher become compacted and settle at the bottom.  In order to assure better performance of the extinguisher it is important to turn the extinguisher over and knock the compacted chemicals loose once a week.  This way the fire extinguisher is ready and will be more effective when needed.  Don’t forget this helpful tip!  If you haven’t done this in a while it is not too late, do it today!  —BW
