Special Thanks to Brittanie Ward for organizing and overseeing the 1st annual Ward Timber employee appreciation picnic!  Way to go Brittanie, it was lots of fun and everyone is looking forward to next year!

For those of you who were unable to attend the picnic, you really missed out! Here are some pictures to show you just what you missed.  These pictures are from the digital camera's of Leigh-Ann Estridge, Brittanie Ward, & Linda Price.  You may see some similar shots, we wanted to make sure all activities were covered.

I asked Brittanie to do a write up for us for the website, and she willingly supplied the following:

Ward Timber had its first employee appreciation picnic July 9, 2005 at the Atlanta State Park.  All our employees with their spouses and children were invited to attend.  Employees checked in to receive a t-shirt and a chance to win some great door prizes.  Some of the door prizes included: fish breaders, lawn chairs, beverage mugs, a knife set, a life jacket, a gun case, and much more.  The Ole Feed House catered the event serving fried fish with all the trimmings and chicken strips.  We also had a live band perform a variety of songs.  Stumpwater Moonshine Revolution is the name of the band but they also refer to themselves as SMR.  The band members are Donnie Dodson, Jerry Hamons, & Dave Perry.

The horseshoe tournament began after we all ate lunch.  We had 18 teams sign up for a chance to win the prize money.  We had hours of fun watching people hit and miss the pin.  There were quite a few ringers but in the end the final teams battling it out were John Jones & Clint Slider vs. Shane Davidson & Jeff Kimball.  It was a very close game but Shane Davidson & Jeff Kimball ended up in first place taking home $100.  John Jones & Clint Slider were second place and took home $50.  Everyone had fun playing and watching this tournament.

We also had an egg toss contest that started out just for the kids but some adults joined in on the fun as well.  As expected many of the eggs weren’t solely used for just tossing.  Some were used as weapons to attack friends and family and others were used by the boys to have an excuse to get dirty.  After about 4-dozen eggs the egg toss contest came to an end.  The kids also brought some fishing gear and tried to catch fish off the bank of the lake.  The kids all received water guns to take with them and use during the day.  Needless to say we had a few water fights throughout the day.

Overall, the picnic seemed to be a great success.  Everyone that came out enjoyed the food, music, and games.  It was great to have everyone come out for a day of fun.  Hope to see everyone again next year!! - Brittanie Ward
