Special Thanks to Brittanie Ward for organizing and overseeing the 2nd annual Ward Timer employee appreciation picnic!  Way to go Brittanie, it was a lot of fun and everyone is already looking forward to next year!

For those of you who were unable to attend the picnic, you really missed out!

Ward Timber had its second annual employee appreciation picnic July 15, 2006 at the Atlanta State Park.  All our employees with their spouses and children were invited to attend.  Employees checked in to receive name tags and each adult received a numbered ticket for random drawings throughout the day.  Some of the door prizes included: a turkey fryer, several really nice coolers, tool kits, gardening tools, beach bags, floats for the pool or lake & lots of other outdoor items for summer fun.  The Ole Feed House catered the event again this year, serving fried fish with all the trimmings and chicken strips.  We were entertained and very much enjoyed the live music performed by Stumpwater Moonshine Revolution aka SMR.

With temperatures soaring to around 105 degrees, it was indeed a hot day at the Lake.  For those of you who haven't been out to Atlanta State Park, you should know there is a great pavillion for picnic activities and it is surrounded by a lot of nice shady pine trees.  There are several preferred spots for horseshoe tournament watching and playing.  There is also a great view of the lake from that spot.

The horseshoe tournament began after we all ate lunch.  There were separate tournaments for the men and women.   Everyone had fun playing and watching this tournament well into the afternoon, with the final round ending around 3:30 p.m.   There were prizes awarded in both the men's and women's tournaments.  1st prize teams won $100 and 2nd place winners received $50.

This year there was again an egg toss contest for the kids and any adults that were brave enough to participate.  They had a lot of fun and made a big mess.  There were balloons and water guns for the kids and I myself sighted a few good rounds of water gun fights.

The picnic was once again a great success.  There were many new faces from last year and it was good to see how much the kids have grown over the past year.    It was great to have everyone come out for a day of fun.  For all of those that didn't make it this year, you were missed and you missed out on a lot of  fun.  Don't worry, there's always next year!!
