Picnic 2007 was a little different because we had GREAT weather!!  In the past few years it has been fairly hot in July.  So with a little encouragement from other people we decided the picnic would be better during a cooler time of year.  We had great food from the Old Feed House and the music from SMR was a treat as always.

    Each year we have tried to make it better and accommodate everyone.  Third times the charm would probably fit in this case with the addition of a new child activity.  We had a blow up jumper from Hipp Hopp Jumps out of Mt. Pleasant.  The kids all loved this activity.  It was a lot of fun watching them jump all afternoon.  This took the place of the egg toss from years past and I believe you will all see this wonderful kid magnet again next year.

    Our horseshoe tournament was quite a rollercoaster of events.  In the women's tournament there were quite a few shocked faces when a few of the women made ringers.  We even have pictures to prove it!  And who will forget the incentive Jerry Hendrix gave his daughter and her partner for entering.  Way to go girls!!  First place was Lauren Hendrix and Alex Kennair and in second place we had Cheryl Savage and Pam Adams.     In the men division lots of surprising events took place as well.  Those who hadn't played in years got a chance to have victory.  The winners of the tournament at first were hesitant to enter but I persuaded them that they would enjoy.  I know they are thanking me now after being the big winners and taking home the cash prize!!  First place went to "Old Skool" Jerome Defreese and Michael Kelly and in second we had Mark Wilson and Jason Jones.  Way to go guys!

    I always enjoy having our work family get together for our annual picnic.  It is a lot of fun seeing everyone in one place and giving away great prizes.  Some of the prizes this year included: gun carrying case, folding chairs, hunting cushions, deer grunt, dove decoys, cooking utensils for the grill, marshmallow roaster, boot dryer/warmer, lots of cooking items, many hunting and fishing accessories, Ward Timber hats and shirts for all!!  Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed a fun day!  See you next year!!  --Brittanie Ward
